The Sania Ramel Airport ( IATA code TTU , ICAO code GMTN ) is to Sania Ramel named airport of the Moroccan city of Tetouan . It is located around 60 kilometers southeast of Tangier and around 40 kilometers south of Ceuta . In terms of area, it is one of the smallest in Morocco and is right on the outskirts.
There are no direct connections from German-speaking countries. Jetairfly flies seasonally via Liege to Tetouan. XL Airways , Europe Airpost and Transavia offer other seasonal flights several times a week via Paris and, from March 5, 2013, Corendon Airlines non-stop from Amsterdam .
Location of the airport
The airport of Tetouan is located a good 6 km north-east of Tetouan and south-east of the small town of Martil on the Mediterranean.
history
In Spanish Morocco , the military coup began on July 17, 1936 to overthrow the Spanish government , with the military at Sania Ramel Air Force Base loyal to the Spanish government. After taking the airport, the putschists liquidated the commanding Major Ricardo de la Puente Bahamonde along with other Republicans.
Incidents
- On September 11, 1957, a Bristol 170 Freighter Mk.21E of the Spanish Aviaco ( aircraft registration EC-AEH ) was irreparably damaged in a hard landing at Tetouan Airport. All inmates survived.
