Mehdi Jafari Gorzini (* 1959 in Sāri ) is a German politician and publicist with Iranian roots.

Vita

In his home country he rebelled against the Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and stood up for democracy and social justice. The Islamic Revolution , which ended with the constitution of the mullah regime, disappointed him very much.

"If I had stayed, I would not have survived"

- Mehdi Jafari Gorzini

In 1980 he fled to Germany and studied politics, education and psychology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . He founded an AStA foreigners department, was the spokesman for 13 Iranian organizations at Mainz University and a founding member of the Mainz Refugee Council. During his student days he lived in Inter 1 and witnessed the attack of the Pasdaran as a victim on April 24, 1982 . After completing his studies in 1992, he became a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . Since May 1993 he has been the spokesman for the Federal Working Group on Immigrants and Refugees (of which he is now Honorary President) and since the end of 1994 he has been the first state chairman of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen from Iran . At the time he was still clearly against the SPD: The SPD was that

"Party of Islam: The base is lame, the faction is lame, and the party leader is lame."

In 1997 he switched to the SPD and worked for the Integration Ministry in Rhineland-Palatinate . In 2000 he returned briefly to his home country as part of the “Iran after the elections” conference, which was held in Berlin in April 2000 with Iranian participants under the auspices of the Heinrich Böll Foundation . He has not seen it since then that the fear of being arrested is too great. Since 2011 he has been chairman of the migration committee at the United Service Union and since 2014 he has been elected to the party-internal state working group on migration and diversity. Mehdi Jafari Gorzini has now acquired German citizenship and is the father of two sons and two daughters.
