Mehmet Emin Karamehmet

Mehmet Emin Karamehmet (born April 1, 1944 in Tarsus ) is a Turkish entrepreneur .

Life

Karamehmet attended Robert College in Istanbul and studied economics at Dover College in Kent . After completing his studies, Karamehmet returned to his hometown of Tarsus . With the help of his father, he founds his first company. He now heads Çukurova Holding, founded by Şadi Eliyeşil in 1921 . According to the American Forbes Magazine , Karamehmet is one of the richest Turks. Karamehmet is married and has one child. He lives in Istanbul with his family .

In 2010 Karamehmet was sentenced to long imprisonment and a heavy fine for fraud. The judgment was overturned by the Court of Cassation and referred back to the court. At the second trial, he was sentenced to seven years and one month in prison and a fine of 417.5 million Turkish liras. In December 2016, the Court of Cassation upheld this judgment. It is therefore final.
