Constantine C. Esty

Constantine Canaris Esty (born December 26, 1824 in Framingham , Massachusetts , †  December 27, 1912 there ) was an American politician . In 1872 and 1873 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Constantine Esty attended the public schools of his home country and then Yale College until 1845 . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1847, he began to work in Framingham in this profession. He later embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party founded in 1854 . Between 1857 and 1858 he was a member of the Massachusetts Senate ; in 1867 he was a member of the House of Representatives of that state. From 1862 to 1866 and again between 1867 and 1872 he worked for the federal tax authorities.

After the resignation of Congressman George M. Brooks , Esty was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on December 2, 1872 when the by-election was due for the seventh seat of Massachusetts . Since he was no longer running in the regular congressional elections of 1872 , he could only end the current legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1873 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Constantine Esty practiced as a lawyer again. He died on December 27, 1912 in his hometown of Framingham.
