Zabdiel Sampson

Zabdiel Sampson (born August 22, 1781 in Plympton , Plymouth County , Massachusetts , †  July 19, 1828 in Plymouth , Massachusetts) was an American politician . Between 1817 and 1820 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Zabdiel Sampson received a classical school education and studied until 1803 at Brown University in Providence ( Rhode Island ). After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1806, he began to work in Plymouth in this profession. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Republican Party . In the congressional election of 1816 , Sampson was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of Massachusetts , where he succeeded William Baylies on March 4, 1817 . After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until his resignation on July 26, 1820 . After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Zabdiel Sampson was Head of Customs in Plymouth until his death. He died there on July 19, 1828.
