Nathaniel Freeman Junior

Nathaniel Freeman Jr. (born May 1, 1766 in Sandwich , Barnstable County , Province of Massachusetts Bay , †  August 22, 1800 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1795 and 1799 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Nathaniel Freeman attended the public schools of his home country and then studied at Harvard University until 1787 . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1791, he began to work in Sandwich and Cape Cod in this profession. Freeman was a member of the Massachusetts militia for 16 years, rising to major. In 1793 he was justice of the peace in his homeland. Politically, he was initially a member of the federalists . He later switched to the Democratic Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1794 Freeman was elected in the fifth constituency of Massachusetts to the US House of Representatives, which was then still in Philadelphia , where he succeeded Dwight Foster on March 4, 1795 . After a re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1799 . Nathaniel Freeman died on August 22, 1800 in his native Sandwich. He was the nephew of Congressman Jonathan Freeman (1745-1808) from New Hampshire .
