Edward P. Little

Edward Preble Little (born November 7, 1791 in Marshfield , Plymouth County , Massachusetts , †  February 6, 1875 in Lynn , Massachusetts) was an American politician . In 1852 and 1853 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Edward Little attended public schools in his homeland. As a child he went to sea with his father on the frigate "Boston". After that he worked in agriculture. He later began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1829 and 1834 and again from 1835 to 1838 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Massachusetts .

After the death of MP Orin Fowler , Little was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due for the by-election for the ninth seat of Massachusetts , where he took up his new mandate on December 13, 1852. Since he was no longer running in the regular elections in 1852, he was only able to end the current legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1853 . Between 1853 and 1857 Little was in charge of Customs at Plymouth Harbor . Then he worked again in agriculture. He died in Lynn on February 6, 1875.
