Leonard White (politician)

Leonard White (born May 3, 1767 in Haverhill , Essex County , Province of Massachusetts Bay , †  October 10, 1849 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1811 and 1813 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Leonard White studied at Harvard University until 1787 . As a result, he held various local offices in his home country. Politically, he became a member of the Federalist Party . In 1809 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Massachusetts . In the congressional election of 1810 White was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington DC in the third constituency of Massachusetts , where he succeeded Edward St. Loe Livermore on March 4, 1811 . Until March 3, 1813, he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . The beginning of theBritish-American War of 1812 .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, White worked as a town clerk in his hometown of Haverhill. He was also employed by the Merrimack Bank of Haverhill between 1814 and 1836 . He died in Haverhill on October 10, 1849.
