Karl Manfred Rennertz (born January 25, 1952 in Eschweiler , Rhineland) is a German sculptor and university professor . He lives in Baden-Baden .

Life

Karl Manfred Rennertz comes from a Rhenish pottery family . After graduating from high school, he first studied architecture for one semester at RWTH Aachen University before he began studying sculpture under Professor Alfonso Hüppi at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1972 , which he completed in 1976 with the master class and the state examination for art education at grammar schools. Since then he has been working as a freelance artist. Numerous longer and shorter work stays followed, etc. a. in Basel , New York , New Delhi , Luxor , Zurich , Berlin ( Künstlerhaus Bethanien ), Rome ( Villa Massimo ). In 1995 he received a visiting professorship at the Bremen Art Academy . Since 1996 he has been the first chairman of the Society of Friends of Young Art in Baden-Baden . From 1999–2000 he was a visiting lecturer in sculpture at the Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences , and since 2004 he has been Professor of Sculpture at the OWL University in Detmold . In 2005 he founded the summer academy on Florentinerberg in Baden-Baden.

Karl Manfred Rennertz is a member of the German Association of Artists .

Artistic creation

Wood is Karl Manfred Rennertz's most important material, the chainsaw is the main tool, and has been since he was a student in the 1970s. Other materials have been added such as concrete , bronze , ceramics , plaster and, as part of his exhibition series in the LWL industrial museums in North Rhine-Westphalia , glass , textiles and slate clay . In addition, an extensive graphic and painting work was created. This work is represented in many exhibitions and museums. These include Kunsthalle Bremen, Museum Wolfsburg, Museum Marl, Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Museum Duisburg, Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf, Leopold-Hoesch-Museum Düren, Kunsthalle Mannheim, Kunstmuseum Heilbronn, State Gallery Stuttgart, City Gallery Stuttgart, Museum Ulm, City Gallery Karlsruhe , Museum Schwäbisch Hall, LWL Museum Dortmund, Glass Museum Gernheim, Textile Museum Bocholt and the Märkisches Museum Witten.

Rennertz is also represented abroad, e.g. B. in the Strasbourg Museum, FRAC Alsace, Museum Center Georges Pompidou Paris, Museum Nimes, Japan Foundation Tokyo, Foreign Art Museum Riga, MKC National Museum of Art Kaunas, Collection of the German-speaking Community Eupen and in the collection of the European Commission Beralaymont Brussels.
