Samuel S. Conner

Samuel Shepard Conner (* around 1783 in Exeter , New Hampshire , †  December 17, 1820 in Covington , Kentucky ) was an American politician . Between 1815 and 1817 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Samuel Conner attended Phillips Exeter Academy until 1794 and then Yale College until 1806 . After a subsequent law degree and his license to practice law, he began to work in this profession from 1810 in Waterville in what was then the Maine district of the state of Massachusetts. During the British-American War he was a major and then a lieutenant colonel in an infantry unit in the US Army . After the war he continued his legal practice in Waterville. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Republican Party .

In the 1814 congressional election , Conner was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 19th  constituency of Massachusetts , where he succeeded James Parker on March 4, 1815 . Until March 3, 1817 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After serving in the US House of Representatives, Samuel Conner became head of land surveying for the Ohio Land District in 1819 . He died in Covington on December 17, 1820.
