Exeter is a city in Rockingham County, New Hampshire in the United States . The population on April 1, 2010 was 14,306. Exeter is located at the confluence of the Exeter River and the Squamscott River and is home to the renowned Phillips Exeter Academy private school .

In addition, Exeter is the headquarters of the ice hockey supplier Bauer . In 1990, the arms manufacturer SIGARMS, Inc. moved its headquarters to Exeter. Since the purchase by Michael Lüke and Thomas Ortmeier ( L & O Holding ) in October 2000, the company has been called SIG Sauer Inc.
