William R. Keating (2011)

William Richard "Bill" Keating (born September 6, 1952 in Norwood , Norfolk County , Massachusetts ) is an American politician . He has represented the state of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives since 2011 .

Career

William Keating attended Boston College until 1982 . After completing a law degree at Suffolk University in Boston, he worked as a lawyer. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1977 and 1984 he was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives ; from 1985 to 1998 he was a member of the State Senate . Between 1998 and 2010 he was a district attorney in Norfolk County.

In the 2010 congressional election , Keating was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Massachusetts , where he succeeded the non-running Bill Delahunt on January 3, 2011 . He is or was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Committee on Internal Security . He previously sat on the Committee on Small Business . He also sits on several sub-committees. Keating is married with two children; he lives with his family in Quincy . After three re-elections so far in 2012, 2014 and 2016, he can continue to exercise his office today. His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018. Since 2013 he has represented the ninth electoral district of his state in the House of Representatives.
