Meikle Ferry Pier is a jetty on the north bank of the Dornoch Firth in the Community Council Area of Dornoch in the Highland Council Area in northern Scotland . The name refers, like that of the scattered settlement to the east , to the Meikle Ferry , a ferry connection to Ferry Point on the northwestern tip of the Ness of Portnaculter peninsula that existed until 1957 . Today Meikle Ferry Pier serves as a slipway for local needs.

The system as it is presented today dates from the beginning of the 19th century. It includes a ramp made of rectangular cobblestone paving a good 45 meters in length. In the middle of this is a 1.80 meter high separating wall. At its land-side end there is a cast-iron , arched holder for a lamp and a memorial plaque commemorating a shipwreck in 1809 in which 99 people drowned. Meikle Ferry Pier born in 1984 as Listed Building category C classification, it is thus under monument protection .

Historically, the area of the jetty also served as a regular harbor, as reported in 1834. In the case of other mentions dating back to the 17th century, it is uncertain whether they refer to this point or possibly to another place in the vicinity.
