Myness

In the German cities of the Middle Ages and the early modern period, “ Meinheit ” referred to the entirety of the citizens, but in some places or regions restricted to those who were not organized in guilds , guilds or guilds , but nevertheless (in contrast to journeymen , servants and day laborers ) who had civil rights and were therefore “common” citizens or members of the “community”. The Spokesman for Opinion in many cities was the "Opinion Master".

In rural communities, the term was also used, synonymous with common land , for common property, such as the Low German Meent , which is still in use today in north-western Lower Saxony .
