Master of the Visitation of Freising
A Gothic painter who worked around 1475 is known as the master of the Visitation of Freising . The emergency name was given to him because surviving pictures by the artist, who is not known by name, come from an altar of Mary in Freising's Mariendom , according to art historians . Since only the panel with the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, which can be found today in Augsburg Cathedral, was initially ascribed to him, he is also known as the master of the Augsburg Visitation .
The master's style is characterized by mannered figures and lively coloring.
