Master of the Ilsung Madonna

Crucifixion , around 1485.

The master of the Ilsung Madonna was a Gothic painter who worked in Augsburg around 1475 .

Since his real name is unknown, he is named with an emergency name after his Madonna table for the Augsburg basilica St. Ulrich and Afra , which bears the coat of arms of the respected patrician family Ilsung . He is counted among the most important and concise painters of the Augsburg late Gothic period. Although he works very independently, his work seems to be inspired by Dutch models and shows, in particular, realistic spatial concepts.
