A painter in Florence in the Middle Ages is referred to as the master of the Nativita di Castello ( Italian: Maestro della Natività di Castello) . He was believed to have worked there from around 1445 to 1470. The artist, who is not known by name, got his emergency name after his picture of the birth of Jesus (it. Natività), which comes from a Medici villa , the Villa Castello in Florence. It is now in the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence.

The master of the Natività di Castello is a representative of the Italian early Renaissance . Stylistically he is close to Filippo Lippi and was possibly his pupil. A few other works are sometimes assigned to the master, but most experts assume that they came from the hand of the painter Paolo Uccello , who was also working in Florence at the same time .
