Master of Eriskirch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The master of Eriskirch is a Gothic carver who was probably active in the Lake Constance area around 1420. It got its emergency name after groups of figures that he probably created for the parish church in Eriskirch on Lake Constance and of which four figures from different groups have been preserved. Today they can be seen in museums in Rottweil and Konstanz .

style

The expressive facial features of the figures of the master from Eriskirch , the design of the hand movements and the realistic folds of their clothes indicate the beginning of the late Gothic in the Lake Constance area, which had received impulses of the new art movements of a soft style from other regions such as the Upper Rhine or Burgundy.
