The Melkonian Educational Institute (MEI, Armenian Մելգոնեան Կրթական Հաստատութիւն ) is an Armenian boarding school in Cyprus . It was founded in 1926 by the brothers Krikor and Garabed Melkonian and is based in Nicosia . It is the only grammar school for Armenians in Cyprus. The languages of instruction are Armenian , English and Greek.

Until 2005 the school was funded by the Armenian General Charity Union . The decision to end funding has sparked a dispute between the Armenian community and former students.
