milking stool

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The milking stool is a stool that is used when milking in the tethered stall . A typical milking stool consists of a single, often spring-loaded, stand and a round seat plate. Since both hands are required for milking and the milker often changes from cow to cow, the milking stool can usually be strapped with a set. It is mostly made of wood or steel.

In some areas, a four-legged stool was used as a milking stool.

With the introduction of the milking parlor , milking stools became superfluous.
