Écomusée du Bommelaers-Wall

The Écomusée du Bommelaers-Wall in Ghyvelde near Dunkirk is an ecomuseum that presents the history of rural life on the Flemish coast.

The museum is housed in the large horse stables, animal stables and the barn of a farm that is still in operation today. The museum shows numerous original equipment and products relating to historical agriculture , animal husbandry , butter and cheese production , blacksmiths , the locally historically significant special crops flax , hops and chicory , historical teaching material and children's toys , a classroom , a Flemish kitchen and testimonies to beekeeping , Medicine, justice and witch hunting, hunting and poaching . At the end of the tour, there is a large collection of traditional Flemish wooden toys that can be used free of charge and a small collection of historic farm wagons as well as a Packard and a cutaway model of the nacelle of a wind turbine .

The farm is located in the middle of the field west of Ghyvelde and is accessible via the Routes des Furnes to Dunkirk. On the section between the two bridges to Zuydcote and Leffrinkoucke, a large sign points to the asphalt dirt road that leads directly to the Écomusée.
