Memorial request

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the rural parish cantons of Switzerland  - that is the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden and Glarus  - every single person entitled to vote can submit a personal request to the district administrator and the government council with a memorial application (as the term is used in the canton of Glarus) . These committees examine the applications for their (legal) admissibility and their (political) relevance and take them into account when approving them for the upcoming rural community. Depending on the content of the applications, some of them are declared “irrelevant” or submitted to the Landsgemeinde.

The memorial is an A4-size brochure, in which the program of the Landsgemeinde is summarized and which reaches every household in the aforementioned cantons.
