A Menäon ( ancient Greek Μηναῖον Menaĩon , Neo Latin Menäum , plur. Menäen , monthly ) is a liturgical book of the Orthodox Churches with texts for each day in the unchangeable cycle of the church year . The texts are summarized in twelve volumes. Each volume corresponds to a whole month. The first month is September.

Icons

The term Menaeon is also used for the icons of saints whose feast days fall in a specific month. Many churches have an icon for each month of the year, or a large icon for all twelve months of the year.
