Men (sculptor)
Men was Amenhotep III during the reign of the Pharaohs . and his son Amenophis IV. "Colonel of the sculptors" and "Head of construction work on the red mountain". He is known for the relief on a rock stele in Aswan , which shows him together with his son, the builder and sculptor Bak . There Men is referred to as "the chief artist at the very large monuments of the king". The illustration shows him in front of a statue of Pharaoh Amenophis III. standing, commonly identified as one of the Colossi of Memnon . Based on this identification , it is now considered likely that these sandstone statues were probably erected under his guidance.
