Menggie Cobarrubias

Domingo "Menggie" Cobarrubias (born August 10, 1953 , † March 26, 2020 in Alabang , Muntinlupa ) was a Filipino actor .

Life

Menggie Cobarrubias had been a regular actor since the late 1970s. In his career he has appeared in almost 200 film and television productions. With his portrayal of Sonny Gaston in the thriller Jaguar directed by Lino Brocka , he had his great national breakthrough in 1979. For this performance he was awarded the Gawad Urian national film prize for Best Supporting Actor.

In March 2020, Cobarrubias was admitted to the Asian Hospital and Medical Center for shortness of breath, aching limbs, and poor blood counts . He died on March 26, at the age of 66, of complications from pneumonia . It was initially suspected that he had contracted dengue fever . Five days after his death, he was discovered to be SARS-CoV-2 . He left a wife and a son.
