Menhir du Mené

The Menhir du Mené (also called Menhir de Botergal ) is near the confluence of the streets Bottergal and Le Mené or Kerpicard, southwest of Moustoir-Ac near Vannes in the Morbihan department in Brittany in France .

The information on the height of the menhir vary between 3.6 and over 4.0 meters. Since the Neolithic menhir stands in an embankment (which was not raised until later), there is speculation as to whether it is actually 6.0 or even 7.0 m high. Excavations have been made at the foot of the granite stone , but only a few burned stones have been found.

Nearby are "Les pierres du Mené" ( German  "The stones of Mené" ). It is unclear whether these stones with large, round cavities, which are often found around Moustoir-Ac, are ritual sacrificial stones or whether the depressions were caused by erosion ( glacier mills ).
