Menhir la Pierre Bonde

The menhir la Pierre Bonde stands south of Corsept, near the Loire estuary , near Paimboeuf in the Loire-Atlantique department in France .

The approximately 2.7 meters high, at the base 1.8 m wide and 1.4 m thick menhir stands in a swampy area and is mostly covered with yellow lichen . A 1.5 x 1.2 m block made of the same material is about 5.0 m to the west.

The menhir stands about 350 m south of the dolmen of La Haute Gédelière. Nearby are five other menhirs, including the 4.0 m high menhir of the Cassis.

Legend

According to legend, when the Cromlech de la Rochelais was being built , the giant Gargantua dropped a large stone into the creek, which dammed the creek. The backwater formed the Maraichandeau swamp between Corsept and Saint Père.
