Karl von Platen-Hallermund

Karl August Heinrich Graf von Platen-Hallermund (born December 9, 1857 on Gut Friederikenhof in Sehlendorf , Plön district ; † October 23, 1922 in Kiel , Schleswig-Holstein) was a German administrative lawyer in Schleswig-Holstein .

Life

Karl von Platen-Hallermund was a son of Count Karl Ernst Felix von Platen-Hallermund (1810–1887) from his second marriage to Louise, nee. von Hollen (1833–1895). Oskar von Platen-Hallermund was his brother. Graf Platen attended the school of scholars at Plön Castle . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität . He became active in the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg in 1880 and distinguished himself as a consenior . In 1883 he passed the state examination in law. He worked as a trainee lawyer in Potsdam with Theodor von Bethmann-Hollweg . After the assessor examination in the three emperor's year , he worked for the government in Wiesbaden . In 1892 he was appointed district administrator in the Segeberg district. In 1901 he came as senior president to the senior president of the province of Schleswig-Holstein . The provincial parliament of Schleswig-Holstein elected him in 1907 as governor . For 15 years he was at the head of Schleswig-Holstein's self-government. He enjoyed great veneration and devotion throughout the country. He was married to Elfried Ursula von Köppen (1872–1958). The couple had four daughters.
