Hermann von Graba

Hermann von Graba (born September 17, 1833 in Kiel ; † June 15, 1908 there ) was a German civil servant .

Life

His parents were Carl Julian von Graba (1799–1874) and his wife Wilhelmine Carlonline geb. Christiensen.

Graba studied law . In 1857 he was trainee lawyer and from 1857 to 1864 official secretary of the Landdrostei Pinneberg . From 1864 to 1867 Graba served as Mayor of Glücksburg . From 1876 to 1894 he was state councilor and syndic of the provincial administration of Schleswig-Holstein. From 1891 to 1907 Graba was chairman of the board of the Invalidity and Old Age Insurance Institution, which later became the Schleswig-Holstein State Insurance Institution, in Kiel. In addition, he was state director from 1895 to 1907 and from 1902 governor of the province of Schleswig-Holstein . His term of office actually ended in 1910, but Graba died in office in 1908.

Services

He was awarded the following medals: Prussian Red Eagle Order 4th class on the Red Ribbon; Prussian Red Eagle Order 3rd Class; Prussian Crown Order 3rd class.

Hermann von Graba had been a member of the main committee of the German Association for Poor Care and Charity since 1888 . He was chairman of the historical state hall in Kiel and in the same function of the society for Schleswig-Holstein history.
