Hans Müthling
Hans Müthling (born July 8, 1901 in Schwerin ; † February 5, 1976 in Kiel ) was a German economist , lawyer and politician ( SPD ).
Life and work
After attending elementary school, Müthling completed an office apprenticeship in the municipality of Altrahlstedt . Then he made up his Abitur on the second educational path. He took up a degree in law and political science, passed the examination for a degree in economics and was qualified for higher administrative service. In 1932 he received his doctorate in political science at the University of Hamburg with the thesis The economic and socio-geographic conditionality of the financial economy of the Stormarn district .
Müthling entered the higher administrative service, initially worked as a district treasurer in Wandsbek and later worked there as an economics and finance department head. In 1943 he became a state administrator of the Schleswig-Holstein provincial administration in Kiel. In 1950/51 he worked as a municipal clerk at the Federal Ministry of the Interior and from 1951 to 1954 as city treasurer in Hanover .
Political party
Müthling had joined the SPD and later held honorary party offices at federal and state level.
MP
From 1965 to 1972 Müthling was a member of the German Bundestag . He always moved into the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the constituency of Kiel .
Public offices
After 1945, Müthling was the first regional councilor of the Schleswig-Holstein provincial administration with its seat in Kiel and then worked as the first regional director (state secretary) of the first three regional governments of Schleswig-Holstein . From 1955 to the end of 1965 he was Lord Mayor of Kiel. At the same time he was Vice President of the German Association of Cities .
