A rake is a special, percussive guitar technique. With rake, several notes are played so fast that the audible impression of a single note is obtained:

If a guitarist plays a rake, he strikes between two and four strings . One of the strings contains a conventional sounding note. The remaining strings are z. B. dampened by placing your left hand loosely on the strings above the fingerboard . Rakes are often confused with sweep picking . However, a rake is not necessarily the same as sweep picking, but sweep picking is a way of performing a rake with the right hand. All information relates to right-handed guitars.
