Karl-Heinz Zimmer (born January 1, 1937 in Kiel ; † September 4, 2019 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1996 to 1997 he was Lord Mayor of Kiel.

Life

Karl-Heinz Zimmer studied after graduating from high school at the Kiel Hebbel school law at the University of Kiel . From 1969 he worked as an administrative lawyer for the Schleswig-Holstein state government until he became a full-time city councilor in Kiel in 1979. From 1994 he was mayor and, after Otto Kelling was voted out of office in 1996, until the election of Norbert Gansel in 1997, he was acting mayor of Kiel.

From 2000 to 2012, Zimmer was chairman of the regional association of the German War Graves Commission .
