Ulf Fighter (2013)

Ulf Kämper (born June 16, 1972 in Eutin ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). The administrative lawyer has been Lord Mayor of the Schleswig-Holstein state capital Kiel since April 2014 . Fighter is the deputy president of the German Association of Cities .

Life

After graduation in Ploen 1991 and having completed community service studied fighters 1993-1998 jurisprudence and philosophy at the Georg-August-University of Goettingen and the National University of Ireland in Galway . In 1996, Kämper joined the SPD in Göttingen and was involved in the Juso university group there . In 1998 he passed the first legal exam . He then worked for two years as a research assistant for SPD member Michael Bürsch in the German Bundestag . After further studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin and Columbia University in New York City , he was in 2003 with a comparative law thesis on the self-determination of death Williger: Euthanasia in the German and American constitutional law in Berlin to Dr. jur. PhD. In 2004 he also passed the second legal exam .

From 2004 to 2005 he worked in the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and from 2005 to 2007 in the Ministry of Justice of Schleswig-Holstein . In 2008 he joined the judiciary and was appointed judge at the Kiel District Court in 2010. Before his appointment as State Secretary in the Albig cabinet on June 12, 2012, he was seconded to the Schleswig Higher Regional Court by the Kiel District Court.

From 2012 to 2014 he was State Secretary in the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas in Schleswig-Holstein.

After the resignation of the mayor of Kiel, Susanne Gaschke , the selection committee made up of the SPD, the Greens and the SSW voted on November 20, 2013 for fighters as joint candidates for the new position. General assemblies of the three parties voted on it on December 14, 2013: Fighters were elected by the general assembly of the SPD with three abstentions and no dissenting votes, by the assemblies of the Greens and the SSW unanimously without abstentions and dissenting votes as the candidate on the joint nomination. In the election on March 23, 2014 , Ulf Kämper was elected as the new Lord Mayor of Kiel with 63.1% of the vote. He took office on April 24th. On the election proposal of the SPD and with the support of the Greens, FDP and SSW, Kämper ran again in the mayoral election on October 27, 2019 and was elected for a second six-year term starting on April 24, 2020 with 65.8% of the votes in the first ballot re-elected.

In the Kiel city administration, in addition to his duties as Lord Mayor, Kämpfer's direct responsibility is also the Central Control, Guidelines and Economics department .

The SPD member Kampf lives with his wife, the Green politician and former State Secretary Anke Erdmann , and their son in Kiel-Hassee .
