The Albig cabinet was the state government of Schleswig-Holstein from 2012 to 2017 . Torsten Albig , top candidate of the SPD Schleswig-Holstein and former Lord Mayor of Kiel , formed a coalition between the SPD , Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and SSW after the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein on May 6, 2012 . This was confirmed on June 9th at party congresses of the three parties. Albig was shortly after the Landtag Schleswig-Holstein Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein selected. The cabinet was appointed and sworn in on June 12, 2012. For the first time in its history the SSW ( South Schleswig Voters' Association , party of the Danish minority) was involved in a government; he provided a minister ( Anke Spoorendonk ). In the state parliament, the coalition had 35 of the 69 seats. Cabinet members were officially named on June 6, 2012.
Education Minister Waltraud Wende resigned on September 12, 2014. On September 16, 2014 Britta Ernst was appointed as the new Minister for Schools and Vocational Training; the science department moved to the Ministry of Social Affairs with the responsible State Secretary Rolf Fischer.
On September 25, 2014, Prime Minister Albig dismissed Minister of the Interior Andreas Breitner from his position at his own request. Breitner gave personal reasons for the move; the day before he had been elected director of the Association of North German Housing Companies.
