Johannes Callsen (born April 14, 1966 in Langdeel ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament .

Life and work

Johannes Callsen has been working part-time as a freelance journalist and author since 1982. After graduating from high school in Satrup in 1985 , Callsen began training for high-level administration at the city of Kappeln . At the same time, he completed a course of studies at the Kiel-Altenholz University of Applied Sciences , which he completed in 1987 with a degree in administrative management (FH) . He then worked as a civil servant for the city of Kappeln until 1990 and from 1990 to 1993 for the Schleswig-Flensburg district as deputy head of the district culture office. After that, Callsen worked for a year as an assistant to the Bundestag member Wolfgang Börnsen . In November 1994 he took up a position as press officer at the Kiel Chamber of Commerce and Industry , which he held until April 2005.

Callsen is married and has two children.

In 1986 Johannes Callsen joined the CDU. From 1990 to 1996 he was the community representative of his hometown Mohrkirch . Since 1994 he has been a member of the Schleswig-Flensburg CDU district executive, which he took over as chairman in 2006. From 1996 to 1998 he was a civic member of the CDU district parliamentary group and, at the same time, was chairman of the CDU district association Süderbrarup until 2006 . 1998 Callsen served as a deputy in the council operates the district Schleswig-Flensburg. Johannes Callsen has been a member of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament since the 16th electoral term (2005). In his first electoral term he was a member of the Petitions and Economic Committee and a deputy member of the committee preparing the election of the members of the State Constitutional Court and the Finance Committee. In 2009 he was re-elected to the state parliament for the 17th electoral term, took over the deputy chairmanship of the parliamentary group and was a member of the economic committee, as well as a deputy member of the interior and legal committee. On August 18, 2011, he was elected chairman of the CDU parliamentary group as the successor to Christian von Boetticher .

He remained in the position of parliamentary group leader and opposition leader until October 2014. During this time he was chairman of the committee for the preparation of the election of the members of the state constitutional court, member of the council of elders and from March 2013 to March 2014 chairman of the parliamentary unification committee.

In the elections for the 18th electoral term in May 2012, he was elected a third time in the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament and was the economic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group until the end of the electoral term.

In the 2005 election , Johannes Callsen entered the state parliament as a directly elected member of the Schleswig electoral district with 46.1 percent of the first vote . In 2009 and 2012 he won the constituency with 38.7 percent each.

In the 2017 state elections , Johannes Callsen once again entered the state parliament with 38.1 percent of the first vote as a directly elected member of the Schleswig electoral district for the 19th electoral period. There he holds the office of minority commissioner. Callsen is also a deputy member of the finance committee.

Social Commitment

From 1986 to 2007 Callsen was chairman of the Mohrkirch e. V. He also chaired the board of trustees of the Schleswig-Flensburg District Cultural Foundation from 1998 to 2008 .

Since 1990 he has been a member of the advisory board of the local fishing community . In 2006 he became chairman of the Working Group on Folklore Collections in the Schleswig-Flensburg district.
