Ingrid Nestle (born December 22, 1977 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and industrial engineer . She was from 2009 to 2012 and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 . From 2012 to 2017 Nestle was State Secretary in the Albig cabinet at the Ministry for the Energy Transition, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Areas in Schleswig-Holstein .

Nestle is married and has two children.

Professional career

From 1998 to 2003 Nestle studied energy and environmental management at the University of Flensburg . In 2000, she completed an internship at the Federal Environment Ministry and was a member of the German delegation at the global climate conference in The Hague , followed by a semester abroad in Granada in 2001 . After graduating, she worked in Flensburg as a research assistant in the field of environmental and energy policy and energy economics from 2004 to 2009 . Between 2004 and 2012 she conducted research at the Universities of Flensburg and Cambridge and received her doctorate in 2013 with a thesis on climate economics.

Political career

During her studies, Nestle was a student council representative and was involved in nature conservation youth . In 2001 she joined the Greens. From 2003 to 2005 she was a member of the district board of the Greens in Flensburg, and from 2004 she was also the board spokeswoman. In 2004 and 2005 she was also the spokesperson for the Green Youth in Schleswig-Holstein. For the state elections on February 20, 2005 , she ran for 9th place on the list for Alliance 90 / The Greens . During the election campaign, she ran her own nationwide campaign to dialogue with non-voters. From 2005 to 2007 Nestle was spokeswoman for the Federal Energy Working Group.

In the federal election in 2009 she ran as a direct candidate in constituency 1 Flensburg - Schleswig and as a top candidate on the Schleswig-Holstein state list . From October 2009 to June 14, 2012 she was a member of the 17th Bundestag . There she was spokeswoman for the energy industry of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group , member of the economic committee and deputy member of the committee for transport, construction and urban development.

In 2012, she resigned from her mandate to become State Secretary in the Albig cabinet at the Ministry for the Energy Transition, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Areas in Schleswig-Holstein .

In the 2017 federal election , Nestle ran as a direct candidate in the constituency of Steinburg - Dithmarschen Süd in third place on the state list of the Greens. Through this she moved into the 19th German Bundestag , where she again became the spokesperson for the energy industry for her group. She is currently a member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy and a deputy member of the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure . She is also a member of the advisory board of the Federal Network Agency .
