The menhir of Ober-Mörlen is a prehistoric menhir near Ober-Mörlen in the Wetterau district in Hesse . The buried stone was discovered in 1975 and erected again.

location

The stone is located north of Ober-Mörlen, about halfway to Ostheim in a field and can be reached via a dirt road and surrounded by a group of trees. It is located on gently sloping terrain 2.5 km northeast of the Galgenberg. Its installation site is 750 m west of the site.

description

The menhir consists of breccia , which is mainly composed of milk quartz , cap quartz and slate rubble ; the material comes from the nearby Galgenberg. The stone is plate-shaped and rounded at the top. It has a height of 250 cm, a width of 200 cm and a depth of 110 cm.
