The Mercator Publishing is in Duisburg -based book publisher with a focus on regional history of the Lower Rhine and the Ruhr .

history

The publishing house was founded in 1953 by Gert Wohlfarth as Carl Lange Verlag in Duisburg and renamed Mercator-Verlag in 1966 . In 1978 he was integrated into Gert Wohlfarth GmbH with the Fachtechnik publishing house of the publisher Gert Wohlfarth . In 1998 the Walter Braun Verlag in Duisburg, which publishes the Duisburg research , was integrated. In 2013 the publisher changed its name to Verlagshaus Wohlfarth GmbH . Mercator-Verlag has been independent since 2017 under the management of Jutta and Susanne Nagels. In 2018, a bookstore called Mercator-Buchladen was opened at the new head office in Duisburg-Ruhrort.
