Mero (space framework)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mero (own spelling MERO ) is the brand name for a steel tube modular system in the field of space trusses (RFW) from the manufacturer Mero-TSK International .

Constructions

The company's founder Max Mengeringhausen (1903–1988) used steel pipes that are pointed at the ends and connected them to static constructions with spherical connecting elements that set certain angles during construction ( Meroknot ). Since the construction parts are prefabricated and the connections can be quickly fixed, the Mero-RFW can be easily transported and assembled on site. The company name is composed of the beginning of the surname of the company founder "Mengering" and the "Ro" for pipe construction.

Mero constructions were z. B. used in the roof construction of motorway service stations, border crossings or airports as well as in halls and other roof structures in flat and curved form. The best-known examples in Germany are the roofing of the “old” Olympic Stadium in Berlin, the glass hall of the Leipzig trade fair , the long-distance train station at Frankfurt (Main) airport and the main train station in Berlin.

history

The Mero company was founded in 1928.

In 1974 the first roof construction was statically calculated with the help of the then newly established IT data center. For this, Mero was awarded the German Steel Construction Prize in the same year .

Mero was involved in the construction of Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi from 2009-2010 , which is said to have the world's largest three-dimensional framework.
