Company history

Mero was founded in Berlin in 1928 from the idea of company founder Max Mengeringhausen to offer economical and innovative solutions for the construction sector with industrially prefabricated series elements. Mero is the brand name for a modular steel tube system used around the world in the space framework. The company name comes from the first letters of the surname of the company founder " Me ngeringhausen" and " Ro " for the tube design together.

After the Second World War , the company's headquarters were relocated to Würzburg in 1948 . From the original invention, the Mero spatial framework made of rods and nodes, the path led to mixed constructions of rods, profiles and cables, to the increasing integration of the roofing as a load-bearing element of a building. This area of the building envelope was later named "building systems".

The product range has been expanded over the decades to include airport technology (airport technology), floor systems (raised and hollow floors) and exhibition systems (trade fair construction). The latter are sold under the name Meroform.

The production location was initially Würzburg. In 1966, the new branch in Prichsenstadt near Wuerzburg the raised floor production started. All four product areas are now manufactured there. Starting with the establishment of the subsidiary Mero Structures in Wisconsin in 1986, Mero expanded increasingly worldwide.

From the mid-1970s, MERO introduced the NC-controlled production of bars and nodes of space frameworks as well as the automatic generation of position plans. The decision maker for this development was Herbert Klimke, the head of the data center at the time. Through the systemic linking of design, calculation, construction and production of spatial frameworks by the computer, MERO took a pacemaker role in steel construction. With this technological lead, MERO was able to successfully enter the international market for spatial roof structures, first from space frameworks and later also from rod shells, and to assume a leading role.

Today there are branches in France , Belgium , Italy , USA, UK , UAE and Singapore and joint ventures in China, Japan, Malaysia, Russia and Serbia.

In 2004 Mero GmbH & Co. KG was integrated into the TSK group, which is also active worldwide. Mero-TSK International GmbH & Co. KG and Mero-TSK Prichsenstadt GmbH & Co. KG were created.

In 2009 Mero-TSK built the world's largest three-dimensional framework with an area of 200,000 m² with the supporting structure of Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi .
