Merter
Merter is the name of a neighborhood on the European side of Istanbul in Turkey .
According to MESIAD ("Association of Industrialists and Business People of Merter"), the area of the district is 500,000 square meters.
The business and residential district is named after Ahmet Muhtar Merter , a landowner who died in 1959 and former leader of the resistance against the Greek occupation in the Turkish liberation war . The name Merter means "noble soldier" or "noble man".
According to the daily newspaper Hürriyet of September 7, 2003, the neighborhood was called Haznedar when it was still an estate .
The Çalık Holding Group has its headquarters in Merter.
