Merter

Merter is the name of a neighborhood on the European side of Istanbul in Turkey .

According to MESIAD ("Association of Industrialists and Business People of Merter"), the area of ​​the district is 500,000 square meters.

The business and residential district is named after Ahmet Muhtar Merter , a landowner who died in 1959 and former leader of the resistance against the Greek occupation in the Turkish liberation war . The name Merter means "noble soldier" or "noble man".

According to the daily newspaper Hürriyet of September 7, 2003, the neighborhood was called Haznedar when it was still an estate .

The Çalık Holding Group has its headquarters in Merter.
