The Mesoproterozoic (= middle Proterozoic ) is an era (or an age) in the history of the earth . It represents the middle era within the Proterozoic Eon . The Mesoproterozoic follows the Paleoproterozoic and is replaced by the Neoproterozoic . The beginning of the Mesoproterozoic Era is set at around 1,600 million years ago and its end around 1,000 million years.
