Mesotherapy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mesotherapy is a complementary medical treatment method. It contains elements from the acupuncture , from the neural and knows reflexology . Injections with homeopathic as well as low-dose conventional drugs are introduced into the middle ( meso ) skin layer ( injection acupuncture ). The respective mixtures differ from doctor to doctor, they often contain vitamins and trace elements .

history

Mesotherapy was developed in 1952 by the French doctor Michel Pistor.

Pistor administered 10 ml of procaine intravenously to a patient to relieve an asthma attack. Although this did not have the desired effect, the patient reported a significant improvement in his hearing loss during the follow-up examination. As a result, Pistor began treatments with superficial procaine injections in the ear area in patients with hearing loss and had some success with them. As a result, he treated many hard of hearing patients, the results being very different. However, many of his patients experienced improvement in other diseases such as ear canal eczema or craniomandibular dysfunction . Patients also reported improvements in tinnitus .

He then continued experimenting with local targeted injections of procaine into the skin for a range of indications. On June 4, 1958, he published a specialist article with his results in which he first used the term mesotherapy. The prefix “meso” refers to the mesodermal origin of skin and connective tissue in the embryonic development.

In 1966, the Mesotherapy Society was finally founded in France. The First International Conference on Mesotherapy was held in 1976. In 1981 Jacques LeCoz introduced the method in orthopedics to the National Institute for Sport ( Institute Nationale du Sports ) in Paris. In 1987 mesotherapy was recognized by the French Académie de Medicine as a legitimate treatment method of conventional medicine.

Pistor liked to describe his method with the following sentence: “Injecter peu, rarement, au bon endroit” (“little, seldom, in the right place”). He received the Chevalier de la legion d 'honneur for his work .

application

The method is said to help with countless diseases, but no effectiveness has been proven by clinical studies. The method is also widely used in aesthetics. The indications include:

The following areas of application are also mentioned: Circulatory problems , keloids , rheumatic diseases, arthrosis , overload damage, immune deficiency, asthma , cystic fibrosis, states of exhaustion, sleep disorders, headaches , presbyopia and senile hearing loss , obesity, irritable bladder and infertility .

The method is justified with a significant improvement in microcirculation , regulation of the neurovegetative system and local immune modulation.

Pharmacologically, sympatholytics , beta- sympathomimetics ( Hydergin , Bufetil ) as well as analgesics , anti -inflammatory drugs , non-steroidal anti -inflammatory drugs and neuroleptics are primarily used .

distribution

Mesotherapy is mainly used in France, Canada and the USA, especially for fat reduction. There is an official university course for mesotherapists in Bordeaux , France . In 1984 the "German Society for Mesotherapy" was established in Germany. On their homepage you can find z. E.g. in Upper Bavaria alone - including Munich - around 100 resident doctors and naturopaths who are members of this society.

education

There is no uniform further training regulation; the individual existing certificates are awarded by the medical societies under different conditions.

In France there is additional university training for doctors.

In Germany, the German Society for Mesotherapy offers training for the mesotherapy diploma. This requires attending an introductory course and at least two advanced courses as well as a written and oral examination. The training can be completed by doctors as well as alternative practitioners .

In Austria, the Austrian Society for Mesotherapy offers two training courses for doctors. The SCHMERZ mesotherapy certificate and the meso-AESTHETICS certificate can be obtained here after attending the corresponding modules (6 modules or 5 modules are required).
