metaphorik.de is a linguistic journal in which research articles on metaphor and metonymy and their use in language, literature and the media appear. The first edition was published in December 2001. Since then, the journal has developed into an important instrument in international metaphor research.

The magazine is published twice a year, in June and December. Since issue no. 12/2007, metaphorik.de has also been distributed in a parallel printed version by Wehrhahn Verlag .

The editorial office is located at the Institute for Romance Languages ​​and Literatures at the University of Duisburg-Essen . In March 2020 the editorial team consisted of:
