MetroJazz Records was an American jazz label that existed in the late 1950s .

MetroJazz Records was founded in the late 1950s by Leonard Feather as a sub-label of MGM Records . Around fifteen LPs were released on the short-lived label, including recordings by Toshiko Akiyoshi , Sonny Rollins , Thad Jones , Pepper Adams / Jimmy Knepper , Gigi Gryce , Red Callender , Sam "The Man" Taylor , Helen Merrill , Teddy Edwards , Red Mitchell / Blue Mitchell , Melba Liston and Pete Jolly , also live recordings from the Newport Jazz Festival 1958 ( New Faces at Newport , with Randy Weston and Lem Winchester ). Some of these LPs were re-released by Verve Records in the 1960s following the takeover of MGM Records.
