Metrophanes II.
Metrophanes II. († August 1, 1443 ) was Patriarch of Constantinople and successor of Joseph II from 1440 to 1443, and in the first circular after his election, supported by Emperor John VIII. , He also announced the union decided in 1439 at the Council of Ferrara-Florence Rome. However, he insisted on maintaining the Greek rite.
