The parish church of St. Mauritius

Mettenhausen is a district of Landau an der Isar in the Lower Bavarian district of Dingolfing-Landau .

Mettenhausen is located in the valley of the Vils about five kilometers southeast of Landau on the federal highway 20 . It had been Niederhausen's vicariate since at least 1429 . Documents suggest that it was originally an old parish. In 1850 the parish vicariate was rebuilt. The vicariate church was demolished in 1863 because it was dilapidated. The new church of St. Mauritius was built in 1862/63 in the neo-Gothic style outside the village in a field at a flood-proof place. A year later the new cemetery was laid out there. In 1867 the vicariate, including several smaller towns, numbered 450 souls.

In 1899 Mettenhausen was able to celebrate the elevation to the parish. On July 1, 1972, the municipality of Mettenhausen came to the city of Landau an der Isar as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . In 1969 the parish became part of the Aufhausen Parish Association , the first in the Diocese of Passau . In 1975 the parish church received modern furnishings from Leopold Hafner.
