Meybod ( Persian میبد) Is a desert city in the province of Yazd in Iran .
history
The city's origins go back to pre-Islamic times. Under the Muzaffarids , Meybod was the capital and is home to one of the country's oldest surviving castles from the Sassanid era, Narin Ghaleh . From the Safavid period derived Chaparkhaneh and the caravanserai Karvansara-ye Abbasi . Many famous poets , Sufis , clergymen and politicians come from the city, including the poet Meybodi, author of the Kashf-ol-Asrar ("Unveiling the Secrets") and the Grand Ayatollah Haeri . Some of the historic buildings were destroyed by local authorities.
