Michał Wołosewicz

Michał Wołosewicz (born September 8, 1925 in Stare Rakliszki , Puszcza Rudnicka ; † January 10, 2004 ) was a Polish poet.

Life

Michał Wołosewicz spent childhood and youth in Vilnius . After World War II he moved to Bieniakonie , Belarus . In 1952 he returned to his birthplace, Stare Rakliszki. He worked there for several years as a sexton and organist .

All his life he had a great interest in the history of Poland . In 1971 he discovered the grave of Jan Piwnik - called "Ponury" - in the village of Wewiórka - and has been caring for it ever since.

In his poems Michał Wołosewicz devoted himself above all to his homeland and Adam Mickiewicz . As part of this, he led tours to the infamous stone, where Adam Mickiewicz met his lover Maryla Wereszczakówna .

On January 10, 2004, the poet died in the hospital of the city of Varanovo in Belarus.
