Micah the son of Jemla

Michajah the son of Jemla מִיכָיְהוּ בֶן־יִמְלָהor son of Jimla or Micha ben Jimla was a biblical person . He is mentioned in 1 Kings 22.8-28  EU and 2 Chr 18.7-27  EU as a prophet during the reign of Ahab of Judah (873-853 BC).

Micha differs in his statement diametrically from the official cult prophets, who promise the king success in a warlike conflict. Micah is unpopular with the king because he does not prophesy anything good, only evil . He warns the king of a great defeat, which will then occur. The story of Micha with his adversary Zedekia ben Kenaana reflects the contradiction between the official prophecy of salvation at the official places of worship and the opposing prophecy of judgment at that time, which was critical of society and the king. Both sides appeal to YHWH, but only one side can be right. One side is supported by the king, the other oppressed. The biblical narrative interprets the historical events in such a way that in the end it becomes clear which side was right.
